On April 11th, 2018, the Edison Awards will recognize Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards at the gala in New York.

Since 1987, the Edison Awards™ have recognized and honored some of the most innovative new products, services and business leaders in America. The Edison Awards symbolize the persistence and excellence personified by Thomas Edison, while also strengthening the human drive for innovation, creativity and ingenuity.

Past winners of the Edison Award include Nike, Boeing, Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon.

AeroBarrier, Dow, and Koehler are finalist in the category of Sealing Technology & Thermal Applications. A description of each product innovation is as follows:

Dow and Koehler partnered to produce a first of its kind, sustainable thermal paper option free of chemical developers, or ROPAQUE™ NT-2900 Opaque Polymer for BLUE 4EST™.  Thermal paper is used throughout the world for cash register receipts, tickets, tags, and labels. Until now, these papers use chemical developers such as bisphenol A (BPA) and bisphenol S – materials of growing regulatory and consumer scrutiny around the globe – in their coatings to produce images when heated. The sustainable imaging technology won the award for 2017 U.S. EPA Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge.

Dow Corning® EA-4600 LV Hot Melt RTV Translucentallows slimmer smart devices to be manufactured more simply. The innovative adhesive allows smart device assembly to occur more quickly, form strong bonds to support innovative new designs, and accelerate production cycles. The innovative adhesive won the 2018 Golden Mousetrap Awards in February.

After five years of research, AeroBarrier launched its pilot program in 2017. Immediately, some of the most innovative builders embraced the technology. By early 2018, AeroBarrier was recognized as the top product at the International Builders Show ’18 (IBS), and the top building product for innovation. The advanced sealing technology makes it possible to tightly seal the building envelope, which results in reducing energy demand, eliminating human error, and passing code requirements for envelope leakage with ease. Some builders are stating the advanced envelope sealing technology is the catalyst to reducing energy demand and making zero energy homes financially feasible and scalable.

The Awards

The criteria for selecting the top award is measured against criteria that includes excellence in concept, value, delivery and impact. Live coverage of the gala and award winners will be available by following #EA18 or by following the Edison Awards Twitter feed.
